KRIVÁŇ

The most famous silhouette of the Slovak mountains, poured into soap. A grey sky turns into a charcoal-black peak embossed with Kriváň 2495 m n. m. (2495 m above sea level), and the scent matches the view: sage, pine and mint — the fresh herbal-woody air that greets you above the tree line. The Kriváň design soap is vegan, and its black does not come from a printer but straight from the recipe. The scent comes from pure essential oils, no fragrance blends — and this summit needs no crampons or early alarm. A shower will do.

What makes the peak black?

Activated charcoal, which cleans the skin thoroughly; the grey sky is the work of mineral pigments — and we say so out loud, because a “natural colourant” on a label is more often marketing than chemistry. The peak is created by marbling coloured soap mass, and each bar is wire-cut from a larger block, so the clouds and the ridge look a little different every time. Mountains, after all, do not look the same two days in a row either. Developed and made in Prievidza. The soap is made by the cold process and cures on the shelf for at least 30 days before packing — during which time water leaves the mass and the peak hardens, so it lasts longer at home and at the cabin. Cocoa and shea butter in the recipe add to the hardness; coconut oil makes up the largest share and takes care of the rich lather, too. Time is part of our recipe. After a hike or an ordinary day, give the soap a soap dish that drains, where it can dry out well between showers — standing in water simply does a solid soap no good. You will find more bars with a story among our design soaps. To lather is human. Returning to the mountains is human too.
