The natural lip balm is care pared back to the essentials: beeswax, cocoa butter and no scent or colourant. Not because we forgot about scent — but because the most sensitive lips, children's and those of mums-to-be, appreciate precisely what is not in the stick.
Who is an unscented balm for?
Anyone who would rather steer clear of fragrance. Even natural essential oils carry natural fragrance allergens — we wrote about this in our article on allergens in cosmetics. Here we left the scent out entirely. What remains is beeswax, which wraps the lips in a protective film against wind and frost, and cocoa butter, which gives the stick its firmness and the lips a supple feel. Nothing extra. Nothing without a reason.
The consistency is deliberately firmer, so the balm survives summer in a pocket or in the car — and still melts into a soft film on the lips. That is no accident — it is the ratio of wax to butter: firm enough for the stick to keep its shape, and yielding enough for body heat to melt it. The twist-up applicator works with one hand and applies cleanly, no fingers needed. And one admission on top: because of the beeswax — the only ingredient of animal origin we use in the workshop — this balm is not vegan. We say it out loud so you do not have to study the small print.
Store at room temperature and away from direct sunlight. If you do want a scent after all, its coffee sibling is waiting in the lip balms category — and as a small token for wedding guests or under the tree, balms rarely get lost among our gifts. To lather is human. Leaving lips alone is human too.
