HYDROSOL – MINT

In a heatwave, the bathroom could do with air conditioning. Why mint hydrosol belongs in the fridge

Hydrosols in general like the cool and the dark — that way they stay fresh for longer. With mint, the fridge brings one more bonus: chilled floral water cools twice, once with the mint and once with the temperature. In summer it pays to keep one chilled bottle always within reach.

It can also be misted into the air, scenting the room with a fresh green note — mint without chewing-gum sweetness. And because hydrosol is produced as the watery part when the essential oil is distilled, it shares its origin with the essential oil, just in a form that can go straight onto the skin — something the essential oil itself could never do.

It finds its place outside the bathroom too: by the computer, in your travel bag, on the bedside table during tropical nights. A spritz on the back of the neck on a hot afternoon works instantly — you feel the mint's coolness before you have even put the bottle down.
