Lemon balm smells like a garden where the bees have the final say — lemony, honeyed, calm. Lemon balm hydrosol is a floral water produced when lemon balm essential oil is distilled, and it carries the herb's soothing nature in a concentration the skin can handle undiluted. It is used as a gentle face and body toner: after cleansing instead of a classic toner, or at any time of day when the skin reddens easily and is asking for a little calm.
A toner that needs no diluting
During distillation, steam carries away both the essential oil and the water-soluble components of the herb. The latter end up in the spray bottle: enough for scent and character, little enough for the floral water to be spritzed straight onto the face. It soothes the skin and eases the feeling of redness, which is why lemon balm is a particular favourite with skin that reacts to the world more sensitively.
Lemon balm is no newcomer to cosmetics, either — it is a herb people have associated with calm and balance for centuries. We add no big words to that, just a sprayer: a few spritzes into the air when you want to stop for a moment and take a breath. Scent is not therapy — it is a memory of a summer garden, and that is usually enough.
In your routine it behaves unobtrusively: spritz, let it dry, carry on with cream or serum. And because it is so gentle, feel free to use it several times a day. The contents — 100 ml — are guarded from light by dark glass, the sprayer has a gold ring and on the label you will find a drawing of lemon balm leaves. Keep it cool and dark and it will stay fresh for longer.
