HYDROSOL – IMMORTELLE

In Slovak, immortelle is called slamiha — a name that sounds like a word from a herbarium nobody has opened in a long time. In the Mediterranean, though, they call it immortelle, the everlasting flower — tiny golden blooms that keep their colour even after they have finished flowering. Immortelle hydrosol is the floral water left after its essential oil is distilled: a gentle face and body toner that refreshes and soothes tired, sensitive skin and revives its appearance.

In natural cosmetics, immortelle is one of the quiet stars. Not because it works miracles — no plant does — but because its water works unobtrusively: a spritz after cleansing, a spritz where things need waking up, a spritz into the air. The hydrosol carries the plant's components in a mild concentration dissolved in water, so it is used just as it is — straight from the sprayer.

It eases the feeling of redness and brings freshness back to tired skin — not through big promises, but through ordinary, regular spritzing. In this respect the sprayer is a fair tool: it doses a little at a time and lasts.

Why do you hear less about immortelle than about rose? Rose has centuries of poetry and perfumery behind it; immortelle only has dry golden flowers that rustle like straw — hence its Slovak name. We have a soft spot for quieter ingredients: those who don't need to shout usually have something to say.
