BLOOMING MEADOW

This soap looks as though you had sliced off a piece of summer meadow — the bottom is grass green and above it colourful dots of flowers are scattered across a cream sky: red, yellow, even blue with purple. A naive painting, wire-cut, so every meadow blooms a little differently. A floral soap with a lavender scent that reminds you of a day spent outside in the sun every time you look at it.

The scent is fully floral — lavender, palmarosa and geranium create a gentle, calming accord of pure essential oils, no fragrance blends; as with all our soaps, the scent is 100% natural. The recipe is vegan: saponified coconut and olive oil are complemented by shea butter and sunflower oil — coconut takes care of rich lather, shea butter of firmness and a supple feel after washing. Floral essential oils naturally carry allergens such as linalool, geraniol and citronellol — you will find them on the label, exactly where they belong.

Where does the meadow get its colours?

From mineral pigments — mica, iron oxides, chromium oxide and manganese violet. These are mineral colourants, not plant-based ones — and we say so out loud, because “natural green” on a label is more often marketing than chemistry. We make the soap by the cold process, palm-oil-free, cut the block with a wire and let the bars cure on the shelf for at least 30 days. The glycerine that forms during saponification stays in the soap mass — it is a humectant, a substance that binds water. The flower dots land a little differently on every bar. Not perfectly alike — and that is the intention.

Between showers, let the soap dry off in a dry spot so it stays firm and in one piece.

You can scent a room with the same floral accord using the Blooming Meadow essential oil blend, and a soap dish will give the soap a long life. In a paper box, it makes a lovely gift.
