“Just one more chapter” — the sentence every reader says to themselves around midnight, eyes shining, with a book they cannot put down. A candle bearing this confession (and a small heart) in script lettering on a black tin belongs on the bedside table next to a half-read novel.

It is an ideal gift for a bookworm as well as your own bedtime ritual. Match the scent to the book — warm spicy and woody notes for a detective story on a rainy day, sweet ones for romance, or a clean, unscented flame for when the story should be the only thing in the air. Hand-poured soy wax burns long and warm, so it lasts even through an unexpectedly long chapter.

To keep the flame low and calm (and safely away from the pages), trim the wick short before each lighting and never leave a burning candle unattended. Let the first burn reach all the way to the edge of the tin — that way the candle will burn down evenly right to the last chapter.
